Porter Maintenance Worker - Full Time; 7695-703-N

For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens, offering over 160 programs for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those with mental illness.

POP Development, a part of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, is a major provider of affordable housing, transforming vacant lands and buildings into housing for low-income populations through new construction and financial repositioning. To date, it has created 4,330 units for seniors, families, and homeless individuals, focusing on high-quality, sustainable housing that meets current needs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by following a regular cleaning schedule for the property.
  • Assist with preparing tenant apartments for occupancy, ensuring safety standards are met.
  • Collaborate with on-site staff, vendors, and contractors for maintenance and inspections.
  • Perform routine repairs and document service requests.
  • Ensure all common areas are clean and safe, including floors, stairways, and outdoor spaces.
  • Perform tenant apartment cleaning, painting, and floor maintenance as needed.
  • Remove snow and ice promptly to ensure safety.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED preferred; experience may substitute.
  • Experience with cleaning and maintenance equipment such as vacuums, waxers, snow blowers, etc.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Proficiency in English; bilingual skills (Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Russian) preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently.
