Job summary

Lower Eastside Service Center in New York, NY is seeking a dedicated porter/maintenance staff to clean and maintain all common areas inside and outside the building, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for residents and visitors.

The schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with possible Saturdays. The role offers competitive pay, benefits including medical, dental, and vision, and generous vacation time.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Good interpersonal skills and hands-on maintenance knowledge.
• Willingness to assist tenants and perform varied maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize and maintain common areas daily inside and outside.
• Empty trash and maintain cleanliness of lobby, restrooms, and entryways.
• Assist tenants with moving belongings when needed and transport supplies.
• Post safety signs and ensure residents and staff safety during cleaning.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Maintains and cleans all common areas of the building spotless, both inside and outside, keeping them decent, safe and sanitary.

MAJOR DUTIES:

• Cleans, sanitizes, mops, washes and maintains common areas including dining area, bathrooms, (done daily) elevator, lobby, hallways, waiting areas, roof drains and laundry rooms if applicable.
• Empty and place trash in appropriate receptacles outside of the building on identified days.
• Sweeps and cleans in front of building.
• Removes snow on snow/storm days and puts salt down to keep the area safe for building occupants and the general public.
• Replenishes toilet accessories and request replacement accessories as needed.
• Maintains the walls free of graffiti and cleans windows, walls and other identified surfaces.
• Assists tenants in moving belongings in and/or out of the building if applicable.
• Transports supplies into the building.
• Assures residents and staff safety while cleaning by posting appropriate signs.
• Fills in for other porter/handyman staff who are on vacation or out for the day.
• Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

SCHEDULE:

Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:00PM, may include Saturdays

RATE:

$36,400 - $36,400 ($20.00 / hour)

QUALIFICATION - EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma, GED and/or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education and/or training and experience. Good interpersonal skills and hands-on knowledge of maintenance trades.
