Porter - Custodian (EVENING SHIFT)

Masonicare Health Center - Wallingford, CT

Evening Shift / 40 hrs/week / Every Other Weekend (1:00 PM to 9:30 PM)

**Must have floor care experience** and be familiar with the operation of floor care machines.

Project Housekeeper - Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, including quality assessment and improvement programs, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
2. Works from a schedule that outlines and defines the frequency and timing of tasks. Leads the cleaning crew or assigned projects. Performs housekeeper duties when not assigned to a project.
3. Empties trash, biomedical waste, and recyclables; transports to central collection site; operates compactor; packages biomedical waste.
4. Strips and refinish floors; extracts carpets; performs dry and wet mopping of floors.
5. Washes walls and windows; hangs and removes draperies and cubicle curtains; washes and repairs beds, wheelchairs, geri chairs, and other patient equipment or furnishings.
6. Moves, removes, and relocates furniture, furnishings, and equipment as directed; sets up for meetings, activities, and special programs.
7. Performs isolation and terminal cleaning following prescribed procedures.
8. Communicates effectively and tactfully with residents/patients, considering their age, needs, abilities, and physical condition.
9. Attends department and MHC meetings and in-service programs.
10. Understands and follows universal precautions related to their department.
11. Performs all duties in a manner that demonstrates safety, respect, care, and concern for residents/patients/clients and staff; reports concerns to clinical staff; maintains a healthy, clean, safe environment.
12. Operates vacuum cleaners and some mechanical floor/carpet machinery.
13. Removes and hangs window draperies and cubicle curtains; washes window draperies, cubicle curtains, walls, vents, etc.
14. Assists other MHC departments as needed.
15. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School diploma or GED.
• Experience: Must have floor care experience and on-the-job training.
