Job summary

Interstate Waste Services in Newtown, CT is seeking a Full Time Porter / Garbage Container Cleaner to support daily sanitation and container maintenance.

You will operate a pressure washer, sanitize containers, and help keep the site clean and safe. The role requires standing outdoors for 8 hours, lifting up to 50 lbs, and reading work orders. Union benefits, medical, dental, vision, 401K are provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of work experience, preferably in a labor-type role with cleaning or washing.
• Ability to stand and work outside for 8 hours.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to read and write and comprehend work orders.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a pressure washer to clean containers.
• Sanitize plastic and metal containers for reuse, up to 75-100 units/day.
• Keep work area clean and safe per OSHA standards.
• Assist with general site clean-up as assigned.
