Job summary

Interstate Waste Services, Inc. in Newtown, CT is seeking a Full Time Porter / Garbage Container Cleaner. You will wash and sanitize carts and containers, operate a pressure washer, and keep the site clean and safe.

The role runs 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday with some Saturdays. The position offers full union benefits, medical, dental, vision, including a 401(k) plan and more.

Qualifications

• Reading and writing work orders and daily assignments.
• At least 1 year of work experience, preferably in a labor or washing role.
• Ability to stand and work outside for an 8-hour shift.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily inspections of pressure washer and related equipment.
• Uses pressure washer to clean and sanitize containers for reuse up to 75–100 units/day.
• Operates the wand and occasionally a brush to remove debris and stains from containers.
• Gathers the necessary sizes and styles of containers to optimize operations.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with safety standards.
• Performs work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Interstate Waste Services is looking to hire a Full Time Porter / Garbage Container Cleaner!

Location: Newtown, CT

$20.00 per hour. Monday thru Friday and some Saturdays from 7AM to 3:30PM.

General Summary

Essential Job Summary:

Responsible for washing/sanitizing carts, garbage containers, and garbage toters in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner, in addition to general site clean-up duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

Position Responsibilities

• Performs daily inspections of pressure washer and related equipment.
• Uses pressure washer to clean and sanitize plastic and metal containers for reuse up to 75-100 units/day.
• Manipulates pressure washer wand, and occasionally a brush, to clean debris and stains from previously used containers to make them fit to deliver to new customers.
• Gathers the necessary sizes and styles of containers to wash for the day to insure ensure efficient operation of other departments.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of the pressure washer and its components and the basic maintenance requirements for safe & efficient operation.
• Ability to read and write & comprehend work orders and daily assignments well enough to complete basic reports.
• At least 1 year of work experience. Preferably in a labor type roll where you had to utilize cleaning or washing.
• The ability to stand and work outside throughout an 8-hour shift.
• The ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
• Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions.
