Residential Services operates under contract with the New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) and is subject to inspections and audits by DHS, the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, and the Coalition for the Homeless of New York City.

Summary: The Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility, assisting with maintenance tasks, and supporting the facility management team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure the facility is always ready for audits and inspections; follow up on work orders.
• Maintain general cleanliness and upkeep of common areas and landscaping.
• Assist vendors performing maintenance or repair tasks.
• Inspect the building daily for safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
• Maintain the outside perimeter, including snow removal, graffiti removal, and sidewalk cleaning.
• Keep accurate records as required by regulations and protocols.
• Assist in cleaning and maintaining resident areas and facilities.
• Support on-site projects such as floor stripping, painting, repairs, and lighting.
• Work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Stand and move quickly throughout shifts; lift up to 70 pounds occasionally and 35 pounds regularly.
• Communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
• Assist with garbage removal, delivery reception, extermination, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of three years' experience in building maintenance.
