Stratum is actively hiring a Porter who will support the day-to-day upkeep of our apartment community. This part-time opportunity is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work, light maintenance, and janitorial tasks that directly impact resident satisfaction and community appeal.
Position: Porter
Location: Silverplace Apartment Homes, 329 Fossholm St. NE, Silverton, OR 97381
Schedule: Part-time (24 hours per week), Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (1-hour unpaid lunch)
Pay Range: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
Classification: Non-exempt position, eligible for overtime

Responsibilities Of The Porter
Clean and maintain the grounds, sidewalks, stairwells, parking areas, and common spaces
Perform routine janitorial duties including trash removal, sweeping, mopping, and restocking supplies
Support light apartment maintenance tasks such as pressure washing and painting curbs
Assist with unit turnovers by removing debris and cleaning entry areas
Report maintenance and safety issues to the Property Manager
Operate a golf cart for onsite duties (valid driver’s license and insurance required)
Be available for after-hours emergencies as needed
Perform seasonal tasks such as snow and ice removal, leaf collection, and pressure washing
Physical Requirements
This position requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, crouching, and climbing stairs or ladders up to six feet. Employees must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, move heavy equipment, and use hand and power tools. The role involves repetitive motions of the hands, fingers, and wrists, and requires sufficient hearing, motor skills, and coordination to safely operate equipment and perform job tasks. Work may be performed in confined spaces, outdoors in all weather conditions, and may involve exposure to chemicals, machinery, and electrical components.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred
At least one year of porter, janitorial, or groundskeeping experience preferred
Must have valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation
Ability to work independently and follow verbal and written instructions
Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset
Compensation & Perks
Competitive hourly pay ($18.00 – $22.00)
Monthly cell phone reimbursement: $50
Paid sick time under Oregon law
