Job summary

Nashville Public Radio is seeking a Porter to maintain a clean and safe environment for residents and staff. Under supervision, you will perform basic maintenance tasks and ensure hazard reporting is prompt and effective.

You will be responsible for cleaning interior and exterior areas, stairwells, lobbies, and elevators, while handling trash and recycling, and assisting with snow removal as needed.

Responsibilities

• Report any deficiencies or hazards observed during duties.
• Maintain exterior areas and remove litter and debris.
• Sweep and mop stairwells to keep passageways safe.
• Wash stairwell floors and walls as part of routine cleaning.
• Sweep and mop lobby floors to keep a welcoming environment.
• Clean all stainless-steel surfaces free of smudges and fingerprints.
• Clean glass surfaces in entrances and elevator landings.
• Dust vertical surfaces, frames, doors, and fixtures.
• Clean and sanitize walls in common areas.
• Perform comprehensive cleaning of elevators, including interiors and tracks.
• Remove building trash daily; clean chutes and compactor rooms.
• Clean garbage containers immediately after trash removal.
• Set out and store floor runners as needed.
• Provide snow removal as needed, including applying rock salt for safety.
• Administer the building’s recycling program per NYC guidelines.

Overview

Porter, under the direct supervision of the superintendent or Handyman, as required, is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for the residents and employees of the complex. The Porter will be required to perform basic maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Promptly report any property deficiencies or hazardous conditions observed during regular duties that may pose a risk to tenants or staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of exterior areas adjacent to assigned buildings, including removal of litter and debris.
• Sweep and spot mop stairwells to ensure safe and clean passageways.
• Wash stairwell floors and walls as part of routine deep cleaning.
• Sweep and mop lobby floors to maintain a presentable and welcoming environment.
• Clean all stainless-steel surfaces, ensuring they are free of smudges and fingerprints.
• Clean all glass surfaces in entrances, stairwells, and elevator landings.
• Dust vertical surfaces, removing all smudges, fingerprints, and marks.
• Dust all light fixtures, door frames, and doors.
• Clean and sanitize walls throughout common areas to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
• Perform comprehensive cleaning of elevators, including interior walls, floors, doors, and tracks.
• Remove all building trash daily and clean computer chutes and compactor rooms.
• Clean garbage containers immediately after trash is removed.
• Set out floor runners as required; clean and store them when not in use.
• Perform snow removal on an as-needed basis, including the application of rock salt to prevent slipping hazards.
• Administer the building's recycling program in accordance with New York City Recycling Program guidelines.
