Job summary

B.HOM Student Living is seeking a Porter to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of the community on site in Harrisonburg, VA. You will support groundskeeping, cleaning, and property upkeep to ensure strong curb appeal and a welcoming living environment for residents.

The role involves multitasking across landscaping, common areas, and minor maintenance tasks while delivering friendly, resident-focused service. On-site work with possible on-call needs and weekend hours may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect exterior grounds, breezeways, and buildings daily.
  • Pick up trash and debris throughout the community.
  • Operate trash compactor and manage waste areas.
  • Sweep, blow, and/or pressure wash common areas, parking lots, and walkways.
  • Maintain landscaping including watering plants, flowers, and shrubs.
  • Assist with painting curbs, speed bumps, and other exterior touch-ups.
  • Replace light bulbs and assist with minor maintenance tasks.
  • Support maintenance team with unit turns and trash-outs.
  • Clean and maintain clubhouse, office, and amenity spaces.
  • Maintain pool area cleanliness and assist with pool upkeep.
  • Track and maintain pool chemical logs in compliance with local requirements.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while interacting with residents.
  • Assist with posting notices, flyers, and community communications.
