Job summary

Steinway & Sons in Astoria is seeking a Porter to maintain a clean office and factory environment. The role covers the cafeteria, bathrooms, and workspaces in the plant and office areas, ensuring sanitation and organization across facilities.

The shift begins at 2 PM or later. The successful candidate will perform daily cleaning, train others, enter data in T&A, and support 5S standards to keep the facility safe and efficient.

Qualifications

• Requires no experience; 2–4 weeks break-in period.
• Moderate physical effort; light to moderate mental effort.
• Working conditions include soil, odor and fumes from cleaning chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Cleans floors, windows, tables and chairs in the factory.
• Fills toilet paper, paper towels and soaps in toilets as required.
• Regularly cleans factory toilets.
• Performs daily maintenance and 5S requirements (clean and sweep area).
• Trains others as required.
• Enters data in T&A and closes work orders as required.
• Performs other functions in the department as necessary.

This role will clean the cafeteria, bathrooms, and workspaces in the factory and office areas, as assigned. This role requires your shift to begin at 2 PM or later.

Requirements

• Cleans floors, windows, tables, and chairs in the factory
• Fills toilet paper, paper towels, and soaps in toilets as required
• As a regular routine, cleans factory toilets
• Perform all daily maintenance functions and 5S requirements (i.e. clean and sweep area)
• Train others as required
• Enter data in T&A and close work orders as required
• Perform other functions in the department as necessary

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Requires no experience. Requires approximately 2-4 weeks break-in. Requires a moderate degree of physical effort, and a light to moderate degree of mental effort. No injuries are probable. Working conditions include a high degree of soil, and odor and fumes from chemicals used in cleaning.
