Job summary

The Boys & Girls Club Of Greater Northwest IndianaPortage Club is seeking a part-time Morning Youth Development Professional (YDP) in Portage, IN. The role runs weekdays 6:20 AM–8:30 AM to help members start their day positively and safely.

You will assist youth with school prep, homework support, and model constructive behavior to foster readiness for the school day, while building relationships and maintaining a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Some college education preferred.
• Experience working with youth, especially elementary school age, is desirable.
• Experience with youth development concepts and Boys & Girls Clubs is preferred.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Capable of organizing and supervising youth in a safe environment.
• Effective communication with youth, parents, staff, volunteers and the public.
• Ability to facilitate quality programs for youth and strong time-management skills.
• Able to work with minimal supervision at a remote site while remaining calm.
• Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must be able to pass a criminal history background check and drug screen.
• Must be eligible to work in the US.

Part-Time Monday–Friday, 6:20 AM–8:30 AM

The Morning Youth Development Professional (YDP) helps provide members with a safe, welcoming, and positive start to their school day. This position supports youth as they prepare for school, assists with completing homework when needed, and helps members begin their day feeling prepared, confident, and successful.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana safety, supervision, and program expectations.

Qualifications: Knowledge/Skills Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Some college education preferred
• Previous experience working with youth, particularly elementary school age
• Working knowledge of youth development as well as experience with Boys & Girls Clubs preferred
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
• Capable of organizing and supervising members in a safe environment
• Ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents, staff, volunteers and general public
• Facilitate quality programs for youth
• Strong organization and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize
• Able to work with minimal supervision at a remote site location while maintaining a positive, calm demeanor
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid
• Ability to pass a criminal history background check.
• Ability to satisfactorily pass a drug screen for all federally illegal substances.
• Must be eligible to work in the US.
