Job summary

M&R in Oakland, CA seeks a General Manager to lead maintenance and repair operations for port terminal equipment. You will supervise mechanics, enforce safety and labor policies, and optimize daily production while coordinating with union leadership.

Required: a BS in Marine, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 3+ years supervisory experience, PLC experience, and strong problem-solving and leadership skills for a fast-paced, safety-driven environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Marine, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years of general supervisory experience in maintenance and repair or union environments.
• Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (GE, FUJI, Siemens, OMRON) desired.
• Familiar with the maintenance of engines, hydraulic systems, refrigeration systems, container and chassis maintenance and container cranes desired.
• Valid driver’s license and TWIC.

Responsibilities

• Management of mechanics and leadmen, in their work assignments and evaluate the performance of all employees under your direction.
• Participate in the development and implementation of company safety policies and procedures.
• Actively manage and monitor the safety of your operation, ensuring safety of all employees.
• Identify training opportunities of staff as needed.
• Determine work needs for each shift and assign such work to the workforce.
• Manage and implement daily operational changes to improve efficiency and quality of work.
• Analyze the quality of work performed, post-audit repairs with mechanics as needed.
• Reassign mechanics to other locations or work assignments based on operational need.
• Payroll processing and schedule management.
• Manages finances, accounting, and billing to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Manage inventory and part ordering process.
