Job summary

The Port of Stockton is seeking a trustworthy and multitasking individual to join our team as a Police Support Technician. Under direct supervision, you will provide technical support to Port Police personnel ensuring safety of life and property at the Port District grounds.

Responsibilities include controlling access, coordinating vessel movements, monitoring security systems, and handling emergency calls along with report generation. POST background checks and TWIC are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; strong work ethic and ability to multitask emphasized.
  • Prior experience in or with port operations or law enforcement is desirable.
  • POST background investigation and TWIC card are required/desired for position.

Responsibilities

  • Control access to Port entrances and verify identification according to laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate vessel movement, maintain radio contact with vessels, and assist tugboats.
  • Monitor radio frequencies and security cameras for emergencies or incidents.
  • Produce and maintain incident, visitor, radio traffic, and vessel movement reports.
  • Receive confidential criminal history information and maintain required certifications.
  • Handle emergency and non-urgent calls, prioritize and direct to appropriate personnel.
  • Dispatch Port Police staff per guidelines and manage status of field personnel.
