Qualifications

  • Assist with basic troubleshooting and operational adjustments to support continuous operations.
  • Serve as acting team lead in the absence of Foreman A and manage crew schedules.

Job description

The Foreman B supports the Foreman A in overseeing daily port and terminal operations, including cargo handling, material movement, and equipment utilization. This role provides direct supervision to operators, riggers, and labor crews, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The Foreman B plays a critical role in executing operational plans, maintaining productivity, and supporting effective communication across the terminal.

  • Supervise daily port operations, including equipment operators, riggers, and labor crews.
  • Assist with the setup, inspection, and safe operation of port equipment, including forklifts, cranes, and material handling machinery.
  • Ensure all cargo handling and operational activities comply with company policies, OSHA regulations, and established safety protocols.
  • Monitor workflow and adjust operations as needed to maintain efficiency and meet production goals.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or operational delays to Foreman A or the Operations Manager.
  • Train, mentor, and support crew members on operational procedures and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment usage, and safety inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with Foreman A, vessel personnel, and terminal staff regarding operational progress and issues.
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting and operational adjustments to support continuous operations.
  • Serve as the acting team lead in the absence of Foreman A, ensuring continuity of operations and appropriate oversight of assigned crews.
  • Develop and manage crew schedules based on vessel arrival schedules, cargo types, and operational demands.
  • Review and approve employee timekeeping, ensuring accuracy and timely payroll submission.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager and Human Resources regarding staffing needs, attendance, and scheduling adjustments.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of timekeeping, attendance, and payroll documentation to support compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.

  • OSHA 30 certification.

  • Certifications in rigging, signaling, or crane operation.
  • Experience with bulk, breakbulk, or containerized cargo operations.
  • Basic computer proficiency for reporting, documentation, and communication.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to climb ladders, access docks, and work at heights as required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and around heavy equipment.
  • Required use of PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel‑toe boots) in operational areas.
  • Outdoor port and terminal environment with exposure to weather, heavy machinery, noise, and dust.
  • Fast‑paced, safety‑sensitive setting requiring coordination with vessel crews, yard personnel, and equipment operators.
  • Standard work hours may include extended hours, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
