Job summary

Wyoming Department of Transportation seeks a Port of Entry Officer in Cheyenne to inspect commercial carrier paperwork, weigh and measure trucks, and issue permits in a fast-paced entry point environment.

Responsibilities include fee collection, cash handling, and training with senior staff to master Port of Entry policies. Candidates should have 1-3 years of progressive experience and an associate degree. E-Verify applies; background checks are required.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of progressive work experience.
• Associate's Degree (Business) or equivalent.
• Background check and drug screening may be required.

Responsibilities

• Work the counter at Ports of Entry and inspect the paperwork of commercial carrier drivers.
• Weigh and measure trucks to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and statutes.
• Verify and issue permits to commercial carriers.
• Collect fees and maintain and reconcile a cash drawer daily.
• Train with the lead officer to learn the Port of Entry system policies and procedures.
• Become qualified to issue summons for violations of State Statutes.
