Job summary

Centerline Logistics is seeking a Marine Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance and inspections on a fleet of tugs and barges based in California. You will repair mechanical and electrical systems and work with company mechanics as needed, following safety and environmental procedures.

You must be able to read and execute complex instructions, work independently, and pass pre-employment screening.

Qualifications

• Ability to repair marine equipment on site under adverse conditions at all hours.
• Knowledge of the oil transportation and maritime industry.
• Knowledge of tug and barge maintenance systems and equipment.
• Experience in maintaining tugs and barges a plus.
• Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
• Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crewmembers.
• Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port in all weather conditions.
• Must read, speak, write, type, and understand English in person and over the telephone.
• Merchant Mariner's Document, STCW 95. To be completed within 1 year of being hired.
• HAZWOPER training within 90 days of being hired.
• Must possess a valid California State driver's license with clean driving record.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• First Aid & CPR Training.

Job Condition and Environment

• Must be able to work independently and without direct supervision.
• Exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc.)
• Frequently required to board tugs, barges, and ships, at dock or at anchor at all hours.

Expected Hours of Work

• Normal office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• Required to receive emergency repair calls after hours and on weekends. Travel may be involved on certain projects.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of schedules and hours.
