Job summary

Port Houston is seeking a qualified Fire Inspector to join our team in Houston, TX. The role focuses on inspecting buildings and fire protection systems, coordinating with contractors for required inspections, and maintaining documentation for compliance with federal, state and Port Houston codes.

You will conduct monthly and annual inspections, develop pre-fire plans, and lead fire drills while working with the Fire Chief and Training Officer on annual budgeting for inspection activities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of related firefighting experience required.
• Certification: Fire Inspector preferred; other TX certifications listed in posting.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and enforce fire codes for Port Houston facilities.
• Coordinate inspections with contractors for pumps, hoses, ladders, extinguishers, SCBAs.
• Lead monthly and annual inspections; maintain inspection records.
• Prepare pre-fire plans and conduct building inspections.
• Conduct fire drills and trainings; participate in budgeting for fire prevention.
