Job summary

APM Terminals Los Angeles offers an internship program to develop practical maintenance and engineering skills within a large-scale port environment.

You will work with maintenance and engineering teams, gaining exposure to terminal equipment, asset management, and software tools while learning from experienced professionals and participating in safety and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree program with a STEM focus.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Interest in engineering, maintenance, equipment reliability and troubleshooting.
• Basic knowledge of control systems, robotics, maintenance, electrical or mechanical systems.
• Programming knowledge and proficiency with PC applications, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance management activities and initiatives that improve equipment and system performance.
• Support preventive maintenance processes, equipment inspections, troubleshooting activities, and safety practices.
• Help review and improve routine maintenance and repair checklists.
• Assist with data entry, maintenance shift reports, equipment records, and maintenance software updates.
• Apply basic mechanical, electrical, and automation principles while supporting daily operations.
• Participate in equipment troubleshooting efforts and help identify opportunities to reduce repetitive breakdowns and improve reliability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects, safety initiatives, and other assigned learning projects.
