Job summary

APM Terminals Los Angeles is seeking a summer internship to support the social media program. You will create short-form content, manage posts across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and X, and work with operations teams to tell authentic stories about port operations, sustainability, and community impact.

The internship runs full-time in the summer and part-time during the academic year, with opportunities to learn CapCut, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite while developing hands-on

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree program, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, Public Relations, Business, or related field.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
• Comfortable using major social media platforms and content creation tools.

Responsibilities

• Support and manage APM Terminals Los Angeles’ social media presence across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and X.
• Create engaging short-form content, including videos, graphics, and captions highlighting port operations and sustainability initiatives.
• Capture on-site content at Pier 400 and at events, tours, and community activities.
• Plan and maintain a weekly social media content calendar, balancing scheduled posts with real-time opportunities.
• Engage with audiences by responding to comments and messages in a professional manner.
• Track performance metrics (engagement, reach, views, follower growth) to inform content strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Support and help manage APM Terminals Los Angeles’ social media presence across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and X.

• Create engaging short-form content, including videos, graphics, and captions that highlight port operations, sustainability initiatives, workforce stories, and community partnerships.
• Capture on-site content at Pier 400, including terminal events, tours, volunteer activities, and day-in-the-life experiences.
• Assist with planning and maintaining a weekly social media content calendar, balancing scheduled communications with real-time content opportunities.
• Engage with online audiences by responding to comments and messages professionally and monitoring industry-related conversations.
• Track and summarize performance metrics such as engagement, reach, views, and follower growth to support continuous improvement of content strategies.
• Support ad hoc communications projects and contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives as assigned.

What We Are Looking For

• Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree program, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.
• Eligible to work in the United States.
• Comfortable using major social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and X.
• Experience with content creation tools such as CapCut, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar applications is preferred.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences.
• Basic understanding of social media analytics, engagement metrics, and content performance measurement.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow brand guidelines while working in a fast-paced environment.
• General computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office or Google Workspace applications.
• Interest in learning about port operations, sustainability initiatives, global logistics, and supply chain operations.

Work Schedule: Interns will work full-time during the summer and part-time during the academic year. No overtime.
