Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and experienced Port Driver / Warehouse Associate to join our team in Houston, Texas. This is a dual-role position that combines container and port transportation responsibilities with hands-on warehouse operations.


The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of professional driving experience, a valid TWIC Card, a clean driving record, and experience operating a forklift. This position requires someone who is safety-conscious, dependable, physically capable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both a truck and warehouse environment.


When picking up containers at the Port of Houston, the driver will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting loads back to our facility. When not making port pickups, the employee will assist with unloading containers of flooring material, organizing inventory, preparing customer orders, and other general warehouse responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities

Port Driver Responsibilities


  • Pick up import containers and loads from the Port of Houston and transport them safely to our warehouse.

  • Maintain accurate transportation and delivery documentation.

  • Confirm container, load, and shipment information prior to leaving the port.

  • Safely secure and transport loads in accordance with company and DOT requirements.

  • Communicate with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and management regarding pickup status, delays, or issues.

  • Inspect vehicle and equipment and report any maintenance or safety concerns.

  • Follow all port, company, and transportation safety procedures.

  • Maintain a clean and professional driving record.


Warehouse Responsibilities


  • Unload containers of flooring material safely and efficiently.

  • Operate a forklift to unload, move, and organize flooring products.

  • Inspect incoming material for visible damage or discrepancies.

  • Apply product stickers and labels accurately.

  • Put inventory away in the appropriate warehouse bays and locations.

  • Assist with pulling and preparing customer orders.

  • Verify product quantities and ensure orders are accurate.

  • Confirm shipment weights and dimensions.

  • Properly strap, wrap, and secure outgoing orders.

  • Confirm Bills of Lading (BOLs) and other shipping documentation for accuracy.

  • Assist with loading trucks and preparing shipments for delivery.

  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse environment.

  • Follow proper forklift, material-handling, and workplace safety procedures.

  • Perform other warehouse and shipping duties as needed.


Qualifications


  • Valid TWIC Card required.

  • Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience required.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet all applicable driving requirements.

  • Previous port, container, drayage, or freight experience strongly preferred.

  • Forklift operating experience required; forklift certification is a plus.

  • Previous warehouse experience preferred.

  • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle flooring materials.

  • Ability to work on your feet and perform physical warehouse duties throughout the workday.

  • Strong attention to detail when handling inventory, weights, dimensions, and shipping documents.

  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.

  • Ability to work independently while also being a team player.

  • Must be safety-conscious and able to follow established procedures.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with warehouse staff, drivers, customers, carriers, and management.

Some days may involve more time at the Port, while other days may involve unloading containers, moving inventory, pulling orders, or preparing shipments in the warehouse.

  • Ability to lift and move flooring materials and other warehouse products.

  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and warehouse conditions.

  • Ability to safely secure and handle freight.
