Qualifications

• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• Current lifeguarding certification from Ellis & Associates or transferred.
• Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Oxygen Administration, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
• Complete required monthly in-service hours of Ellis & Associates in-service training and scanning skills.
• Obtain and maintain all additional new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Actively scan the assigned zone of coverage every 10 seconds and reach the farthest point within 20 seconds.
• Perform profound bottom scans of zones during rotations.
• Position yourself to ensure clear pool views, avoiding glare or obstructions.
• Guard from elevated chair or near pool edge as required.
• Follow the 5 Minute Strategy and rotate zones every 30 minutes.
• Never leave the pool deck unguarded.
• Be Rescue Ready with equipment accessible at all times.
• Participate in drills and trainings; respond as if live.
• Close the pool if unsafe and follow Thunder/Lightning Policy.
• Communicate professionally with members and enforce pool rules.
• Assist with maintaining a clean facility and other duties as assigned.
