Job summary

YMCA of Greater Brandywine is seeking a Head Lifeguard to oversee pool safety and lifeguard operations across all aquatic facilities. You will enforce policies, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with state and YMCA guidelines while maintaining facility readiness and coordinating training and drills.

The role requires leading by example, strong communication, and a commitment to member safety and great service for program participants and families.

Qualifications

• Must be 17 years or older.
• Current Ellis & Associates lifeguard certification.
• Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Oxygen, AED and Bloodborne Pathogens.
• Monthly Ellis & Associates in-service training and scanning skills.
• Head Guards must be able to lead, motivate others, and relate well to people of all ages.

Responsibilities

• Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area.
• Knows and applies all emergency procedures and responds immediately to emergencies.
• Maintains records and performs equipment checks.
• Educates members and staff about pool rules and regulations.
• Acts as liaison for lifeguard staff to aquatic leadership and conducts drills as required.
