Job summary

The Southeast Permanente Medical Group is seeking a Respiratory Care Coordinator – Sleep Specialist to plan, develop, and implement respiratory care programs for patients with sleep disorders and pulmonary conditions. • Experience with CPAP and BiPAP equipment
• Strong computer proficiency

Respiratory Care Coordinator – Sleep Specialist

We are seeking a Respiratory Care Coordinator – Sleep Specialist to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of respiratory care programs that coordinate high-quality, cost-effective care for patients with sleep disorders and pulmonary conditions. This role collaborates with physicians, managers, and patient care staff to facilitate patient evaluation, education, treatment, and follow‑up while promoting positive patient outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities

• Educate patients in classroom and individual settings regarding sleep disorders and treatment options.
• Instruct patients on the use of home diagnostic sleep testing equipment.
• Review sleep study results and provide preliminary patient education regarding findings.
• Educate patients on the proper use of CPAP, BiPAP, and other therapeutic respiratory equipment.
• Coordinate referrals to sleep medicine, pulmonary care, and healthy living programs.
• Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of respiratory care programs for patients with sleep apnea, COPD, hypoventilation, neuromuscular disease, and other sleep‑related disorders.
• Collaborate with physicians, managers, and clinical staff to identify and resolve sleep and pulmonary care issues.
• Conduct follow‑up consultations with CPAP users to assess compliance and treatment effectiveness.
• Communicate physician‑directed sleep study results and treatment recommendations to patients.
• Provide case management consultations for patients referred by physicians.
• Work independently while ensuring exceptional service and patient‑centered care.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care, Healthcare Administration, a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Current and valid Georgia Respiratory Care Practitioner license required.
• National Board Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification required.
• Minimum one (1) year of respiratory care experience in an acute clinical setting.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
• Experience with CPAP and BiPAP equipment.
• Strong computer proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Sleep Disorder Specialist certification.
• Recent experience facilitating performance improvement projects.
• Experience planning, coordinating, and implementing clinical programs.
• Recent patient education experience related to respiratory disease and sleep disorders.
