Job summary

Howard County Government is seeking an Assistant Pool Manager to supervise lifeguards and swim instructors, operate the aquatic facility, and ensure safety and compliance. You will manage staff, coordinate trainings, and oversee daily operations while maintaining health-code standards.

This is a contingent paraprofessional role with pay ranging from $16.00 to $19.50 per hour. The position requires ARC Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED certification, a minimum age of 19, and hands-on leadership

Qualifications

• Certified in ARC Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED.
• Must be at least 19 years old.
• Pre-employment lifeguarding skills testing required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe and orderly facility, inspect regularly and report hazards.
• Oversee pool operations, chemical readings, balancing and filtration per health codes.
• Rescue swimmers, handle incidents and provide care within training limits.
• Plan, schedule and assign work; coordinate staff assignments as needed.
• Train and evaluate lifeguards and swim instructors; manage swim lessons.
• Close supervision of the facility in the supervisor's absence and implement emergency plans.
