Job summary

The City of Maypearl seeks a seasonal, part-time Pool Manager to lead daily operations and maintenance of the City Pool. You will supervise lifeguards and instructors, schedule staff, register Red Cross swim classes, and coordinate pool rentals while ensuring safety rules are followed and documented.

Qualifications include current CPO or NRPA AFO credentials, prior pool management experience preferred, and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Must possess current CPO (Pool Operator) credential from PHTA or NRPA AFO credential.
• One year of pool manager or assistant pool manager experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work effectively and courteously with the public; manage staff and emergencies.

Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the City Manager, performs the duties of planning, directing and coordinating the day to day operation and maintenance (testing, monitoring, adjusting, and documenting pool water chemistry) of the City Pool; supervises the enforcement of all safety rules and regulations; supervises the registration and operation of Red Cross swim classes and rental of pool facility for private functions; hires and supervises lifeguards and water safety instructors; purchases supplies; processes time sheets and is in charge of scheduling; and other work as assigned. This is a seasonal, part-time position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide leadership while maintaining effective relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies and the public; work effectively and resourcefully in an emergency and in a stressful environment; communicate professionally, effectively and courteously with the public verbally and in writing; effective problem solving; possess current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) credential from the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) or the Aquatic Facility Operator credential from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional and First Aid for the Professional certifications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess current certificates for Certified Pool Operator (CPO) credential from the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) or the Aquatic Facility Operator credential from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), Water Safety Instructor, First Aid for the Professional and CPR for the Professional. Preference is to have served as a Pool Manager or Assistant Pool Manager for one year.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

Requires current certificates for lifeguard training, first aid for the professional and CPR for the professional. The ability to conduct duties in a professional manner and work effectively and courteously with the public at all times. Management or Administrative experience. High school diploma or equivalent required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Use of hands, arms and legs and other motor skills used for swimming skills. Ability to sit and work extended periods of time in varying degrees of weather. Exposure to loud noise, bending, kneeling, walking on slippery surfaces, squatting; uses senses of vision, hearing, and smell to diagnose problems.
