Job summary

BlueStar Resort & Golf in Queen Creek, AZ is seeking a Pool Maintenance Technician to perform routine pool and spa area upkeep, maintain accurate maintenance records, and ensure chemical levels are safe. The role reports to Maintenance or Facility Manager and requires a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, 2–3 years in maintenance, and a Certified Pool Operator credential, plus the ability to read blueprints and work independently

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two to three years of maintenance experience preferred.
• Certified Pool Operator required by local law.
• First Aid or safety certification as required by the Club.
• Ability to read building drawings and blueprints.
• Good communication and positive attitude; capable of working independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of pool and spa areas.
• Maintain accurate records of pool maintenance and chemicals.
• Manage chemical levels to safe standards.
• Assist with loading/unloading and moving equipment as needed.
• Perform simple carpentry, painting, electrical and plumbing tasks as required.
• Direct maintenance trainees and follow safety procedures.

• New hourly full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week, will be eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment.

Position Overview

The Pool Maintenance Technician performs routine maintenance duties, including monitoring and cleaning the pool and spa areas along with other bodies of water. Maintaining accurate records of pool cleaning, repairs, chemicals and usage. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager or Facility Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the pool and spa areas.
• Maintain accurate records of pool maintenance.
• Manage and maintain chemical levels at safe levels.
• Arrange furniture as needed.
• Power wash the pool deck.
• Removal of garbage.
• Provide superior quality building maintenance to meet the requirements of members and guests.
• Maintain tools and maintenance equipment in working order.Keep maintenance room organized.
• Perform preventive maintenance checks to inspect equipment. Report quality issues and equipment malfunctions to supervisor and follow up with the appropriate action for repair.
• Assemble tools and supplies from the supply room and transport them to the work area for daily assignments.
• Work in a safe manner and use all personal protective equipment (safety gear) assigned.
• Be aware of safety requirements and report unsafe conditions or accidents to supervisor.
• Perform simple carpentry tasks, such as installing shelves, hooks, and locksets.
• Change light bulbs and fixtures.Perform skilled electrical tasks, such as changing circuit breakers.
• Open clogged drains, fix leaks, and perform other related plumbing duties.
• Do touch-up painting and repaint rooms.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks and moving furniture when needed.
• Maintain building inventories and supplies.
• Direct maintenance trainees as assigned.
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications / Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two to three years’ maintenance experience preferred.
• Certified Pool Operator certification as required by local law.
• Current First Aid or other safety certifications, as required by the Club.
• Ability to read building drawings and blueprints.
• Ability to communicate positively and effectively with team members and supervisors about job tasks and responsibilities.

• Must be self-motivated, follow direction, and able to work independently with little supervision.

Work Environment

This position works in an indoor and outdoor environment.

• There may be frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
• Outdoor environments may require walking while carrying equipment or driving a vehicle to the work site.
• The employee is occasionally exposed native wildlife.
• There may be occasional exposure to precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can vary depending on the equipment or machines used.
• Employees are required to wear all assigned personal protective equipment.
