Job summary

County of Los Angeles is seeking a Pool Lifeguard (Recurrent) to monitor pool safety, enforce regulations, and perform rescues as needed. The role includes teaching swim classes and assisting with aquatic events.

Candidates must complete the 64-hour Lifeguard Training Program with required certifications, and meet vision/hearing requirements. Pre-employment medical examination and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to swim 300 yards in 6:30 or less with proper technique.
• Completion of Parks and Recreation Lifeguard Training Program (64 hours) with required certifications.
• Proficiency in first aid and CPR/AED for the professional lifeguard.

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous surveillance of pool area and enforce rules.
• Administer first aid and perform water rescues as needed.
• Teach beginner and advanced swim classes and assist with aquatic events.
• Perform pool maintenance and ensure safety equipment is in good order.
