Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited trade school in a related field, and/or 5 years' experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting and drywall repair.
• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
• Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Responds to and completes facility maintenance work orders to keep facilities safe, clean, functional, and welcoming.
• Performs routine and preventative maintenance across facilities (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, doors, windows, fixtures, hardware).
• Inspects facilities for safety concerns and maintenance needs; addresses issues before failures or disruptions.
• Serves as primary maintenance resource for YMCA aquatic facilities; performs inspections and preventative maintenance of pools and aquatic systems.
• Monitors pool pumps, motors, filtration, chemical systems, heaters, boilers, and other aquatic equipment to support safe operations.
• Collaborates with Aquatics and branch leadership to address equipment concerns affecting water quality and pool operations.
• Coordinates timely repairs of pool and facility equipment to minimize program interruptions.
• Acts as primary maintenance contact with PoolSure, Sunbelt Pools, and other pool contractors; coordinates service calls and preventive maintenance.
• Works with vendors/contractors to troubleshoot issues, obtain quotes, and oversee onsite repairs.
• Maintains preventative maintenance schedules for facility and aquatic equipment and plans for major repairs or replacements.
• Keeps accurate documentation of maintenance, vendor services, warranties, inspections, and related activities.
• Communicates with YMCA leadership about significant maintenance concerns, costs, and timelines.
• Ensures maintenance activities comply with safety standards and proper handling of pool chemicals and electrical systems.
• Maintains mechanical rooms and pool areas in a safe, clean, organized condition.
• Escalates safety concerns and coordinates with leadership for potential pool operation modifications.
• Assists with emergency maintenance and other facility needs with flexibility and teamwork.
