Job summary

Pools Etc. is seeking an experienced Pool Equipment Technician to diagnose, repair, install, and service pool equipment. The ideal candidate works independently, delivers quality workmanship, and provides excellent customer service while maintaining safety and reliability on every job.

You will diagnose electrical, plumbing, hydraulic issues; service pumps, filters, heaters, automation systems, and salt systems; document findings and communicate clearly with customers and staff.

Qualifications

Job Description

Pools Etc. is looking for an experienced, dependable Pool Equipment Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, replacing, and installing swimming pool equipment while ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can work independently while providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and replace swimming pool equipment and components.
• Install, program, and service pool pumps, filters, heaters, salt systems, automation systems, pool lights, and automatic pool cleaners.
• Troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, and equipment-related issues.
• Perform equipment inspections and identify failing components, safety concerns, and opportunities for repairs or upgrades.
• Test and verify proper equipment operation following repairs and installations.
• Service and troubleshoot pool automation systems, including timers, controllers, valves, and remote-access systems.
• Clean and inspect salt chlorine generators and perform routine equipment maintenance.
• Identify the root cause of equipment problems and recommend appropriate, long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes.
• Prepare accurate service notes, document findings, record work performed, and communicate any additional repair recommendations.
• Provide clear, professional communication with customers, supervisors, and office staff regarding equipment issues and completed work.
• Maintain an organized work vehicle, properly manage parts and materials, and ensure tools and equipment are maintained.
• Follow company procedures, manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and all required safety practices.
• Complete assigned service calls efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Previous experience repairing and installing swimming pool equipment preferred.
• Working knowledge of pool pumps, filters, heaters, salt systems, plumbing, and pool circulation systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic electrical knowledge and the ability to safely diagnose equipment-related electrical issues within the scope of training and authorization.
• Ability to read equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions.
• Familiarity with pool automation systems and variable-speed pumps is a plus.
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, and take ownership of assigned jobs.
• Valid California driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift or move equipment and materials as required.
