Camp Mah Kee Nac in Lenox, MA is seeking an enthusiastic Pool Director for Summer 2027. You will lead our aquatics team, overseeing ~25 lifeguards and swim instructors, and drive training, safety, and engaging swim programming for hundreds of campers.

As Pool Director, you will manage scheduling, safety drills, and staff development while collaborating with program leadership to deliver exciting aquatic events and progressive lessons. This role combines leadership with hands-on program delivery.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct daily pool safety checks and coordinate emergency drills.
• Collaborate with maintenance staff to keep facilities safe and well maintained.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and highly motivated Pool Director to lead our aquatics team for Summer 2027!

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone passionate about aquatics, staff development, and creating a safe, engaging environment where campers can build confidence and develop their swimming abilities.

As Pool Director, you will oversee the daily operation of our swimming pools and directly manage a team of approximately 25 lifeguards and swim instructors.

You'll play a key role in staff training, safety management, swim instruction, scheduling, and creating an outstanding experience for hundreds of campers throughout the summer.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff Leadership & Development

• Lead and supervise approximately 25 lifeguards and swim instructors.
• Deliver pre-camp training, lifeguard orientation, and ongoing in-service training.
• Manage daily schedules, staff rotations, and lifeguard coverage.
• Provide regular coaching, mentorship, and constructive feedback.
• Conduct mid-summer and end-of-season staff evaluations.
• Build a positive, professional, and motivated aquatics team.

Pool Operations & Safety

• Oversee daily pool operations, including swim instruction, recreational swimming, and special events.
• Ensure all swimming activities meet camp safety protocols and applicable regulations.
• Conduct daily pool safety checks and coordinate emergency preparedness drills.
• Work alongside maintenance staff to ensure pool facilities are clean, safe, and well maintained.
• Lead and coordinate emergency responses in accordance with established safety procedures.

Swim Programming & Camp Experience

• Oversee instructional swim programming for campers of different ages and abilities.
• Support swim instructors in delivering engaging, structured, and progressive lessons.
• Collaborate with the Waterfront Director, Program Director, and campus leadership teams.
• Help organise exciting aquatic events, swimming competitions, and special activities.
• Create an environment where campers feel safe, supported, and excited to participate.

Required Qualifications

• Current lifeguard certification.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience in aquatics, recreation, or summer camp environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification.
• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) qualification.
• Previous experience managing lifeguards or leading an aquatics programme.
• Experience developing swimming lessons and training programmes.
