Job summary

Sealed Air is seeking a Senior Technician to support product development for the Protective Care Business Unit in Charlotte. The role involves polyurethane systems and experimental technologies, with a focus on advancing developmental products from concept to commercialization.

Responsibilities include conducting hands-on lab work, testing material properties, and collaborating with sales and design teams to address customer needs for Instapak products. Up to 10% travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Chemistry degree required.
• 0-3 years experience in a chemical laboratory environment, preferably polyurethane chemistry.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good mechanical aptitude, math and basic computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on work from concept to commercialization using defined procedures.
• Manage reactivity of polyurethane chemistry.
• Test physical properties (density, compressive strength).
• Conduct transmitted shock testing for cushioning performance.
• Perform machine evaluations to optimize set-points across equipment platforms.
• Apply additional lab techniques to expand expertise.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and report problems to supervision.
• Understand chemistry and analytical methods and apply to product development.
• Collaborate with sales, account reps, and package design to address customer needs for Instapak products.
• Represent Global Innovation and Development on joint projects with Systems Engineering, Supply Chain, or other Sealed Air product development teams.
• Travel up to 10% for field trials, visits, meetings, trainings, conferences.
