Job summary

Sealed Air Corporation’s Protective Packaging R&D seeks a leader to build and run a global Application Engineering function that links customer operations to system requirements, validated performance, and differentiated innovation. The role centers on supporting new product development, mapping customer needs, and guiding escalations.

You will own specifications, lead beta qualification, map workflows, synthesize beta learnings into opportunities, and collaborate with Materials R&D, Equipment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, packaging, materials science, chemistry (Master’s preferred).
• Proven ability to translate customer insights into technical requirements, validation plans, and innovation opportunities.
• Strong systems thinking across materials + equipment + application; capable of resolving tradeoffs in real-world constraints.
• Demonstrated people leadership: hiring, coaching, and performance management in a cross-functional environment.
• Data-driven communicator: able to create clear reports, test summaries, and recommendations for technical and business audiences.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a global Application Engineering function that links customer operations to system-level requirements, validated performance, and differentiated innovation.
• Support new product development, map customer needs, and lead Level 2 technical escalations.
• Lead structured observations and workflow mapping in customer operations to translate pain points into system requirements.
• Develop a repeatable process to capture beta learnings and synthesize insights into opportunities for future development.
• Plan and execute hands-on benchmarking vs. alternatives in customer environments and quantify differentiators.
• Partner with Materials R&D, Equipment R&D, Marketing, Sales Applications, and Service to accelerate decisions.
