Job summary

MaineHealth's Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME is seeking a Polysomnography Technologist I to join a dynamic sleep care team. Under the direct supervision of credentialed staff, you will assist with diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies, prepare patients, set up equipment, acquire data and document results as you develop foundational sleep technology competencies.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Graduation from a Co-ARC accredited EEG diagnostics program, a CAAHEP-accredited Polysomnography program, or other healthcare-related educational program preferred.
• License/Certifications: Must meet eligibility requirements and obtain CPSGT or RPSGT within 12 months; BLS certification required or within 30 days of start date.
• Experience: No experience required; six months in healthcare or direct patient care preferred.

Responsibilities

The Maine Sleep Institute, the leading facility in the state providing comprehensive sleep care, is looking to add a new care team member!

What you’ll do

Work with a dynamic team of certified sleep physicians, respiratory therapists, and fellow polysomnographers to diagnose and treat sleep and waking disorders in infants, children and adults.

Summary

The Polysomnography Technologist I role is responsible for assisting in the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies under the direct supervision of a credentialed technologist. This role supports patient preparation, equipment setup, data acquisition, and documentation while developing foundational competencies in sleep technology.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Graduation from a Co-ARC accredited Electroencephalographic (EEG) diagnostics program, a CAAHEP-accredited Polysomnography program, or other healthcare-related educational program preferred.
• License/Certifications: Must meet eligibility requirements and successfully obtain an advanced sleep-related credential within 12 months of hire—Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). Completion of a sleep technology training such as an AASMA-STEP program, or STAR-designated education program within 6 months of date of hire required. *Note: Individuals who obtain the CPSGT must achieve the RPSGT credential within 6 months following CPSGT certification. Current BLS Certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
• Experience: No experience required. A minimum of six months of experience in a healthcare or direct patient care setting is preferred.

The pay range for this position is $27.27 to $36.88 per hour.
