A Brief Overview
This RRT position requires an Associate degree as well as 1 year expereince. It is 36 hours 3- 12 hour shifts 6p-6:30 am. Will be working from Main Hospital Philadelphia campus as well as PA satellites in KOP and Newtown Square on a rotating basis.
The Polysomnography Technologist-RRT carries out all technical duties for the Sleep Center under the supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, research, or patient care and education. The Polysomnographic Technologist effectively troubleshoots difficult technical problems and demonstrates the ability to use critical thinking skills for problem solving. In addition to demonstrating clinical leadership, the Polysomnographic Technologist serves as a resource and consultant to staff and participates in endeavors to increase polysomnography knowledge. Uses respiratory therapy knowledge to provide specialized patient care and provides support to other staff in procedures necessary for these patients.
What You Will Do
- Practice: Provides expert care using intuitive, reasoning and experience.
- Prepares and calibrates equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and makes adjustments, if necessary, including applying electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards, and performing appropriate physiologic calibrations (when age and cognitive function appropriate) ensuring proper signals and making adjustments, if necessary.
- Documents routine observations, changes in procedure and significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
- Professionalism/Leadership: Establishes professional practice standards and process improvement projects.
- Research: Incorporates research into clinical practice and participates in scientific inquiry.
- Learning Orientation: Acts as a consultant to enhance professional development.
- Examines successes and failures to improve performance.
- Maintains a blame free environment.
- Participates in identifying and meeting own learning needs.
- Completes ten Continuing Education Credits (10) as approved by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) per calendar year.
- Resource Management: Is able to teach others the appropriate utilization of financial resources and makes recommendations.
Education Qualifications
- Associate's Degree - Required
Experience Qualifications
- At least one (1) year experience - Required
- At least two (2) years Respiratory Therapy experience - Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Respiratory Therapist (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required or
- Respiratory Therapist License (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required and
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) - Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists - within 24 months - Preferred or
- Registered Respiratory Therapist Sleep Disorder Specialist (RRT-SDS) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) - within 24 months - Preferred or
- Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (EEG) - American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists - within 24 months - Preferred

SALARY RANGE:
$35.70 - $45.51 Hourly
