Job summary

McClanes Childrens Sleep Lab in Temple, TX seeks a Polysomnography Tech 2 for PRN night coverage. The role coordinates daily sleep laboratory operations, monitors quality, and educates patients and families about sleep disorders and treatments.

The tech will supervise staff, score studies, and prepare reports for physicians while ensuring equipment function and adherence to policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or 2 years of work experience in polysomnography or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in polysomnography or related field.
  • Must hold POLYSOMNOGRAPHY Tech certification and BLS/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform polysomnographic studies in a clinical setting, including oxygen and nasal CPAP titrations.
  • Score studies and formulate reports for physician interpretation.
  • Document all pertinent patient events per department policy.
  • Communicate instructions, results, and related information to patients, physicians, and family members.
  • Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on equipment; troubleshoot issues and contact manufacturers as needed.
  • Notify personnel of equipment problems and maintain infection control.

PRN Nights Position (12 hour shifts)

Job Summary

The Polysomnography Tech 2, under the direction of the Manager, coordinates the daily operations of the Sleep Laboratory. Responsibilities include monitoring and ensuring Sleep Lab quality, adhering to policies and procedures, supervising staff and equipment performance, communicating and educating patients and families about sleep disorders and treatments, and consulting with referring physicians on patient results.

Essential Functions of the Role
  • Perform polysomnographic studies in a clinical setting, including oxygen and nasal CPAP titrations.
  • Score studies and formulate reports for physician interpretation.
  • Document all pertinent patient events in accordance with department policy.
  • Communicate instructions, results, and related information to patients, physicians, and family members.
  • Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on equipment; troubleshoot maintenance issues and contact manufacturers for repairs as needed.
  • Notify personnel of equipment problems and clean all equipment ensuring infection control.
  • Consult regularly with the Medical Director regarding patient studies.
  • Maintain standards for completeness of Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Control measurements.
  • Orient and train new Sleep Lab employees.
  • Implement performance improvements, including education and staff development.
  • Report concerns and/or problems with possible solutions to the Department Manager or Director.
  • Maintain an up‑to‑date Policy and Procedure Manual.

  • Advanced understanding of polysomnographic care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications.
  • Must be able to read, write, and follow flow‑chart protocols.
  • Must communicate thoughts clearly, orally and in writing.
  • Must work effectively under stressful conditions.
  • Must have critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must follow established safety, infection control, and isolation procedures at all times.
  • Must balance multiple demands and respond to time constraints.
  • Must maintain and troubleshoot audio‑video equipment.
  • Must possess general computer skills: typing, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, email.

Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's degree or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
  • Experience: 2 years of experience in polysomnography or related field.

Certifications and Licensure: Must hold a licensed Polysomnography Tech (POLYTECH) certification. Must hold Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
