Job summary

Salinas Valley Health is seeking a Sleep Technologist to perform polysomnography and titration studies in the Sleep Center. You will operate monitoring equipment, document patient events, and coordinate care under supervision with physicians and senior staff.

Responsibilities include setting up monitors, administering oxygen as needed, and maintaining logs. Requires AMA-accredited program or polysomnography training with registration, California licensure, and 1 year of sleep medicine

Qualifications

• Graduate from an AMA-accredited Respiratory Care Program or polysomnography training with registration.
• California Polysomnographic Technologist license or California Respiratory Care Practitioners license.
• RRT NBRC and RPSGT credentials strongly preferred.
• BLS/Healthcare Provider per American Heart Association standards.
• 1 year of Sleep Medicine Center or EEG experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs high-quality polysomnography testing per AASM guidelines.
• Conducts CPAP/BIPAP/ASV/AVAPS titrations and titration logging.
• Maintains sleep apnea and titration logs; charts patient events and information.
• Sets up monitors (EMG, EKG, EEG, oximetry, thermistors, belts).
• Operates EPIC/Meditech systems and performs routine equipment maintenance.

Job Description

• Works under the supervision of the Sr. Administrative Director/ Cardiopulmonary Services or designee, Supervisor and upon the orders of a physician.
• Performs technically high-quality PSG testing as outlined in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
• Performs CPAP/BIPAP/ASV/AVAP titrations.
• Maintains sleep apnea and titration logs during tests.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.
• Performs non-invasive polysomnography using 16 or more channels.
• Correctly and accurately places PSG monitors (EMG, EKG, EEG, Oximeter, nasal and oral thermistors, leg leads, upper airway sensor, respiratory belts, and other monitors needed).
• Sets up CPAP/BIPAP/ASV/AVAPS ; administers oxygen therapy as necessary.
• Charts all patient events, behaviors, and information.
• Uses Hospital EPIC/ Meditech computer system.
• Performs preventative maintenance, calibration, minor repairs, cleaning, and disinfecting equipment.
• Performs related duties, such as, stocking supplies, clerical duties, satisfying telephone and other staff inquiries.
• Stays current on sleep literature and new technologies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Graduate from an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited Respiratory Care Program required or successful completion of training in polysomnography with registration achieved.

Licensure

Current California State Polysomnographic Technologist license or California Respiratory Care Practitioners license required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist required. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required.

Experience

One (1) year experience in Sleep Medicine Center or EEG preferred.

Pay Range

The hourly rate for this position is $49.04 - $61.29. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
