Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida, Inc. in Miami Beach seeks a Polysomnographic Technologist to support overnight data collection.

You will prepare the lab and patient areas, explain procedures clearly, and maintain a comfortable, controlled environment throughout the study. The ideal candidate has an RPSGT or REEG T certificate, BLS, a high school diploma or GED, and about two years of polysomnography experience.

Qualifications

• RPSGT or REEG T certification required; BLS certification required.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in polysomnography or related lab setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the laboratory and bedrooms for overnight data collection.
• Explains procedures clearly to patients and establishes rapport.
• Maintains a comfortable, controlled laboratory environment during testing.
• Troubleshoots equipment and reports major malfunctions immediately.
• Participates in in-service training and supports staff education.
• Ensures safety and proper documentation of drugs and oxygen use.

Cleans equipment on a daily basis.* Clearly explains procedures to and establishes rapport with all patients.* Maintains a comfortable and controlled laboratory environment during the entire time the patient is present.* Summons qualified medical/surpervisor personal immediately if an emergency situation develops.* Alerts immediate supervisor of problem situations and takes preventive and corrective action.* Appropriately utilizes and troubleshoots diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.* Diagnoses and corrects minor deficiencies and immediately reports major technical malfunctions.* Adapts to changing workloads and completes assigned tasks within an expected timeframe.* Demonstrates the ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.* Participates with in-service training programs in and outside of the department.* Demonstrates effective and efficient care through clinical competencies at least annually.* Responsible for following-up on all information communicated at staff meetings.* Consistently observes and documents the effects of drugs,oxygen and other diagnostic and therapeutic measures pertaining to patient.* Guides the performance of technical staff and participates in the training of medical and technical personnel. Provides input for evaluation.* Uses supplies, equipment and resources in cost effective manner.## Qualifications* ### License/Registration/Certification + RPSGT (Reg Polysomnographic Tech certification) or R.EEG T (Reg Electroencephalographic Technologist - Polysomnography) required.
