Job summary

Highpoint Health - Sumner with Ascension Saint Thomas, formerly Sumner Regional Medical Center, is a 167 bed Level III Trauma Center serving Gallatin and surrounding areas. As a Polysomnographic Technologist joining our team, you're embracing a vital mission to improve sleep health for patients.

You will plan, direct, and coordinate the rehabilitation program, score and report sleep studies, educate patients, and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • BRPT–Registered Polysomnographic Technologist required or equivalent certification.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Experience with sleep studies and patient education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and prepare equipment for sleep testing.
  • Interview patients to identify sleep disorders and explain procedures.
  • Score, interpret and report sleep study results; educate patients on results and resources.
  • Calibrate and maintain testing equipment; arrange repairs as needed.
  • Maintain supplies and coordinate with the care team.

More About The Position

The Polysomnographic Technologist is responsible for the overall leadership and operation of the rehabilitation program. In this role, you will plan, direct, and coordinate program activities to ensure organizational and client goals are achieved. You will also play a key role in program development, quality improvement initiatives, problem-solving, and driving productivity while collaborating in a flexible, interdisciplinary team environment.

How You'll Contribute
  • Prepares for the arrival of the patient by setting up and preparing the equipment for the ordered test.
  • Interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
  • Performs testing and any additional testing required for sleep disorder that is noted. Scores, interprets, and reports results of sleep studies. Educates patients about test results, sleep disorders, community support groups, and available resources.
  • Prepares, calibrates, repairs, and maintains equipment required for testing.
  • Determines and reports needed repairs and replacements.
  • Maintains proper supplies to care for patients.

Licenses: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist - Valid and current Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Required Skills
