  • Must hold an active, full, current, and unrestricted sleep technologist license if required by the State, Territory, or Commonwealth.
  • Must be trained and certified by an accredited sleep technician training program.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience independently performing sleep lab services including in-lab PSG, titration studies, HSAT, and scoring.
  • Hold an active Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification issued by BRPT.

  • Preparation of studies for interpretation, including labeling, summary sheets, and notes.
  • Set-up, interface, and calibration of PSG equipment (16- and 32-channel systems).
  • Operate computerized monitoring system for airflow, respiratory effort, oximetry, CO2, ECG, and more.
  • Daily QC of sleep-lab equipment and report malfunctions.
  • Apply and monitor PAP modalities and titration guidance.

Loyal Source Government Services is looking for 1 full-time Polysomnographic Technicians to provide services to VA Puget Sound Health Care System - American Lake Division located in Lakewood, WA


Job Summary: Polysomnographic Technicians must be efficient, motivated, focuses on patient care with our Veteran population. Polysomnographic Technicians are expected to maintain a high degree of accurate productivity and performance while working with our VA community at VA Puget Sound Health Care System - American Lake Division in Lakewood, WA.Polysomnographic Technicians are required to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and consistent care to individuals.


Pay Rate

$41.58/hr + $5.42 H&W Fringe


Duties


  • Event scoring of sleep studies (respiratory events, sleep states, arousals, limb movements, cardiac rhythm, parasomnias).

  • Preparation of studies for Technician interpretation, including proper labeling, summary sheets, and technical notes

  • Set-up, interface, and calibration of PSG equipment (16-channel and 32-channel systems depending on local platform.

  • Operation of computerized non-invasive monitoring system for: airflow and respiratory effort, pulse oximetry, transcutaneous CO2, Plethysmography, ECG, muscle tone, digital video monitoring system.

  • Daily quality control of all sleep-lab equipment.

  • Identify and report suspected malfunctions to Biomedical Engineering and IT support

  • Apply, monitor and adjust PAP modalities.

  • Recognize respiratory events that require PAP pressure adjustment according to AASM titration guidelines.

  • Document PAP tolerance, mask fit, leak, and response.

  • Explain procedures and ensure patient comfort to optimize data quality.

  • Monitor and record significant observations

  • Recognize artifacts and correct them to maintain valid signals.

  • Identify urgent clinical concerns and respond appropriately: notify supervisor for noncritical issues, activate VA Code Blue procedures when needed, and initiate CPR when required.

  • Organize prepare, complete patient charts, tracings, and technical notes for physical review.

  • Accurate, timely documentation in CPRS/HER systems.

  • Upload and transfer electronic files and diagnostic data in accordance with VA standards.

  • Prepare PAP supply requests (filters, tubing, masks) when required by the Sleep Program Chief. Perform other duties that directly support Sleep Lab operations, as assigned by Sleep Medicine leadership (nonclinical tasks must remain appropriate for an RPSGT scope).

  • Shall not prescribe, dispense, or administer medications.

  • Ensure all recorded data, scoring results, and technical notes are uploaded and routed appropriately so that supervising sleep Technicians can meet communication requirements.


Qualifications


  • Must hold an active, full, current, and unrestricted sleep technologist license if required by the State, Territory, or Commonwealth in which the credential is issued.

  • Must be trained and certified by an accredited sleep technician training program

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience independently performing sleep lab services including in lab PSG, titration studies, HSAT, and scoring.

  • Hold an active Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification issued by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)

  • VA Business Hours: 24/7, including weekends and Federal Holidays.

  • Work Schedule

    • Night shift:

      • Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday

      • 6:00 p.m - 7:00 a.m.
