Job summary

Hartford HealthCare's Windham Community Memorial is seeking a Sleep Lab Technician to perform overnight monitoring, calibrate equipment, and set up patients for sleep studies. CPAP/BIPAP titration, troubleshooting, and thorough record keeping are essential, with physician consultation and follow-up as needed.

Experience in polysomnography and CPR certification are required or strongly preferred; credentialing in sleep medicine is desirable.

Qualifications

• At least one year experience or completion of a formal training program in polysomnography.
• Registry in polysomnography technology desirable but not essential.
• Credentialing by a nationally recognized agency relevant to sleep medicine desirable.
• Current licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner or trained Polysomnographer preferred.
• CPR certification is absolutely necessary.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate and maintain sleep lab equipment.
• Set up patients and monitor sleep studies overnight.
• Titrate CPAP/BIPAP and troubleshoot equipment.
• Maintain thorough lab records and patient billing.
• Consult with physicians and perform follow-up as needed.

Position Summary

The Sleep Lab Technician shall be responsible for equipment calibration and maintenance, patient set‑up and all night monitoring of sleep studies. Background and skills in CPAP/BIPAP titration and in troubleshooting are essential, along with computerized systems to analyze and score sleep records. Thorough record keeping of lab documents and patient charge generation essential. Physician consultation and patient follow‑up contact necessary.

EXPERIENCE

• At least one year experience or completion of a formal training program in polysomnography.
• Registry in polysomnography technology desirable but not essential.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

• Credentialing by a nationally recognized agency relevant to sleep medicine desirable.

• Current licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner or trained Polysomnographer preferred.
• Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with current CPR certification absolutely necessary.
