Rainbow Research Optics, LLC. (RROL), (Subsidiary of Rocky Mountain Instruments) is a privately-owned custom and precision optics manufacturing company, has an immediate opening for Entry-level Polishing Technicians at its facility located in Centennial, Colorado. RROL has been providing high quality custom optics to the defense, medical, commercial, and laser markets for over 20 years.

Job Description

The Polishing Technician I position is an entry-level job responsible for learning and performing various optical fabrication processes including but not limited to beveling, milling, blocking, grinding, polishing, curve generation, and inspection/measurements. The incumbent learns to read and comprehend blueprints and understands process steps.

Additionally, this position requires compliance with ITAR Regulations, therefore all employees working in this capacity must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident. Candidate must have the ability to work off-hours as needed to meet business and customer requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

The incumbent performs basic shaping process steps on simple to medium difficult parts. Skills include but are not limited to:

• Beveling – cup and straight line
• Blocking – standard wax blocking, which includes ability to choose correct type of block tooling
• Edging – standard edging tasks up to .001 tolerance
• Milling – standard milling tasks
• Sawing – KLE cut off type operations
• Grinding – to include continuous and double side
• May assist with pouring lap
• Inspects and cleans parts
• Basic reading and comprehension of prints for basic dimensions
• Measurement skills include calipers, drop gauges, micrometers, comparators, measuring microscope (Z scope), spherometer
  
  

Education and Experience

• High School Degree or equivalent required
• No previous experience required

• Incumbent must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
• Must successfully complete and pass a background check
• Must pass drug screening
• Must speak, read and write Basic English
