Job summary

BYU Pathway in Provo, Utah seeks a part-time Language Evaluator to support mission language assessments. You will assess missionaries' and teacher applicants' language abilities and report ratings to the Language Evaluation Supervisor, helping determine placement and eligibility.

You will participate in regular trainings to improve intra- and inter-rater reliability, support a harmonious department environment, and may take on additional duties such as role-playing with non-members interested in

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in speaking a second language.
• Advanced High or Superior language proficiency level in target language (if not native, provide evidence such as OPI).
• Able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Excellent public relations and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess the language abilities of missionaries (pre-MTC and in-residence) and teacher applicants.
• Report language-specific ratings to the Language Evaluation Supervisor through appropriate channels.
• Participate in regular individual trainings to improve intra-rater reliability and evaluation accuracy.
• Participate in regular group trainings to improve interrater reliability and accuracy.
• Support a harmonious department environment and professional conduct within the MTC.
• Perform secretarial and clerical tasks as needed.
• May take on additional responsibilities such as role-playing as a non-member learner of The Church of Jesus Christ.
• May assume other temporary duties at the MTC as assigned.
