Job summary

The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) invites students for Spring, Summer, and Fall 2027 Government Affairs Internships in Washington, D.C. This paid internship offers hands-on exposure to public policy, trade, economics, and advocacy at the national and international levels.

Interns will work with NPPC policy experts and government officials, conduct research, draft briefs, and attend hearings and briefings.

Qualifications

• College-aged students pursuing a major in political science, agriculture, international trade, economics, or other relevant fields.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interests in public policy, agriculture, and international trade.
• Exceptional research, writing, and communication skills.
• Enthusiastic and eager to learn about the U.S. pork industry and international markets.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and monitor legislative, regulatory, and international trade issues
• Compile and distribute daily news clips regarding agricultural and trade topics
• Assist in drafting policy briefs, position papers, and other advocacy materials
• Attend and report on Congressional hearings, policy meetings, and industry briefings
• Participate in meetings with lawmakers, government agencies, and industry stakeholders
• Support the NPPC Washington team efforts with policy and trade projects
