OpenAI is seeking a Research Lead, Policy Communications to design and steward a rigorous research program that informs policy guidance and product decisions. You will oversee mixed-methods studies, translating complex policy questions into actionable recommendations for cross-functional partners.

The role supports a hybrid work model with relocation assistance for new hires. Based in San Francisco or remote, you will shape research practices, manage vendors, and ensure findings are communicated

Qualifications

We’re looking for a senior mixed-methods research leader who combines quantitative and qualitative expertise with strong strategic judgement.
Ability to turn ambiguous policy questions into rigorous, well-scoped research plans.
Proven track record translating research into actionable policy and product recommendations.

Responsabilités

Build and manage a mixed-methods research program from initial questions through study design, fieldwork, analysis, reporting, and documentation.
Design rigorous quantitative research, including surveys and longitudinal studies; oversee questionnaire design, sampling, weighting, and analysis.
Lead qualitative research, including interviews and focus groups, to inform policy communications.
Turn findings into executive-ready reports with practical recommendations for Policy, Communications, Product, Marketing, Data Science, Legal and Privacy.
