Job summary

CSIS in Washington, DC is seeking research interns in the Economic Security and Technology Department to support data analysis, policy memos, and visual content creation. The role emphasizes data visualization, outreach, and event support, with an hourly wage dependent on education level.

Qualifications

• Prior research experience is desirable but not required.
• Basic understanding of data science, Excel, and at least one statistical software is highly beneficial.
• Research experience in regional economic and technology issues is a plus.
• Must be able to work in-person at the CSIS office with occasional work from home.
• Must be an undergraduate student (junior+) or a master’s student or recent graduate.
• Excellent English writing and research skills; detail-oriented under pressure.
• Independent, proactive thinker who can meet tight deadlines and work in a small team.
• Eligible to work in the United States; CSIS does not sponsor visas for interns.

Responsibilities

• Conduct data analysis to create visualizations using Excel and Flourish.
• Produce memos and podcast notes on industrial policy, global trade, and tech developments.
• Create visual content with Canva for posts, banners, and infographics.
• Draft social media content and other digital media to promote EST events and reports.
• Assist with events, including video clips, summaries, and check-in tasks.
