Job summary

The City and County of San Francisco invites applications for a Policy & Research Fellow in the Office of the Treasurer & Tax Collector. This temporary exempt (TEX) position will support the San Francisco Economic Justice Center with research, legislative tracking, and communications materials.

The fellow will conduct research, analyze legislation, draft media briefings, and assist with program implementation targeting low-income communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher degree in policy, public or business administration, accounting, finance, economics, social sciences, education, or related fields.
• Graduate degree in policy, public or business administration, accounting, finance, economics, social sciences, education, or related fields.
• At least 1 year (2–3 preferred) of full-time equivalent experience in policy analysis, program/office/operations management or administration.

Responsibilities

• Research/Analysis tasks including potential topics on financial inclusion and consumer protection.
• Legislative advocacy, tracking, and media briefs related to California and local government.
• Administrative duties such as organizing research library, taking notes, scheduling interviews, and drafting communications.

Education
