Job summary

Teach Plus Michigan is seeking a Michigan Manager of Policy and Programs, a full-time role reporting to the Michigan Executive Director. You will work with teacher leaders, alumni, policy decision-makers, and coalitions to advance policy changes and expand Teach Plus’s regional impact.

The position leads the Michigan Policy Fellowship, customizing learning experiences and ensuring diverse cohorts, rigorous data-driven program improvements, and accountable fellowship outcomes that influence

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in education, policy, advocacy, or related field.
• Classroom teaching experience is highly preferred.
• Experience in education policy, legislative advocacy, and systems change work is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Michigan college- and career-readiness policies, systems, and pathways.
• Proven track record of designing, managing, and scaling programs or initiatives.
• Demonstrated success in cultivating and sustaining relationships with teachers, policymakers, and coalition partners.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for external audiences.
• Skilled in adult learning, professional development design, facilitation, and coaching.
• Deep commitment to improving outcomes for students, especially from historically marginalized communities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Michigan Policy Fellowship and customize high-quality learning experiences.
• Recruit a diverse, high-quality fellowship cohort and ensure equity in selection.
• Analyze data to drive program improvement and inform leadership decisions.
• Oversee fellows’ projects to achieve measurable impact and policy influence.
• Identify policy issues aligned with Teach Plus MI goals and expand programming.
• Draft agendas and scope for expanded programming and alumni engagement.
• Equip teacher leaders to develop research-informed policy recommendations.
• Build and maintain alumni engagement through events, communications, and opportunities.
