Job summary

Pitkin County seeks a seasoned analyst to perform complex analyses across policy, finance, systems, and programs, supporting legislative and policy priorities, and assisting the Board of County Commissioners.

The role includes enterprise-level process improvements, budgeting support, and coordination with department Directors and the County Attorney, ensuring ethical and objective service to all commissioners.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Public Administration highly preferred.
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration with 1 year related public sector experience.
• Additional related education or experience may count towards education/experience.
• Valid Colorado Driver’s License with acceptable MVR.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates, leads, and participates in special projects including planning and implementation of complex research programs and services.
• Writes policy memos and staff reports with background, public input, and fiscal impact for study sessions and public hearings.
• Prepares agendas and materials for study sessions, attends sessions, and documents the Board's direction.
• Tracks Board decisions and assignments through to departmental implementation, coordinating with department Directors and the County Attorney's Office as needed.
• Maintains objectivity and equal responsiveness to all commissioners, consistent with ethics codes.
• Leads discussions on integrating county-wide communications systems and related tools.
• Assists in budget development and conducts research to support budgeting.
• Represents the Department, County, and partners on county priority matters.
• Coordinates cross-departmental working teams and supports internal county planning efforts.
