Job summary

The State of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE, seeks a Legislative Coordinator to coordinate, draft, submit and monitor legislation for the Department of Revenue and external bodies. Qualifications

• Post high school coursework or training in public relations/public affairs, communications, political science, or public administration.
• Experience in policy development and implementation or assisting in drafting bills, researching statutes, and revision of rules/regulations.
• Knowledge of the legislative process and related statutes.
• Ability to present positions to third parties; develop strategies; research and interpret policies; communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, draft, submit and monitor legislation for the Nebraska DOR and external bodies.
• Provide political analysis and strategies to communicate agency positions.
• Advocate for the DOR and Administration's positions on bills and issues.
• Research, review and draft legislation; track current bill status and notify officials.
• Manage legislative tracking system and review Fiscal Notes on legislation.
• Respond to inquiries from the press, legislature and others on various issues.
• Research issues for legislation, taxpayer guidance, or other responses.
• Review forms, policies and documents; serve as the DOR Public Information Officer.
