Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) seeks a Policy Analysis and Planning professional to support policy, legislative, and regulatory development. You will draft agreements, review CTB policy, and coordinate with the Attorney General's Office to ensure compliance with laws.

Responsibilities include preparing hearing packages, providing legal reviews, analyzing federal/state legislation impacts, and serving as a liaison to AG's Office.

Qualifications

• Ability to collect, compile, and accurately analyze data.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences and to make presentations and meetings.
• Ability to draft, edit, negotiate legislation and agreements.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with agency employees, businesses, organizations, and governmental officials.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, organize work, and coordinate activities across diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and guidance in developing policy, legislative, and regulatory proposals for VDOT.
• Draft and review contracts, MOUs and other agreements.
• Review and interpret regulations and statutes applicable to VDOT operations and programs.
• Provide agency advocacy in personnel grievance matters and non-judicial hearings as needed.
• Coordinate with the Attorney General's Office and serve as a liaison as required.
